Editors Ink Exclusive Worldwide Publishing Deal With Strictly Confidential
Monday 27th September:-European music publishing company Strictly Confidential Music Publishing have signed the UK four piece Editors to an exclusive worldwide publishing agreement.
Their biggest signing to date, this deal cements Strictly Confidential as a leading force in music publishing, asserting itself as one of the biggest independent publishers in Europe.
Developing a UK foothold in 2007, Brussels-based Strictly Confidential Music Publishing has since signed a string of rising UK artists includingWhite BeltYellow Tag, Airship, Rose Elinor Dougalland The Real Tuesday Weld.
The company has established itself as a fertile platform from which to establish and develop international careers, counting international artists such as Soulwax, Junior Jack,Hindi Zahra, Felix Da Housecat or Bebel Gilbertoamongst its ranks.
Editors are currently writing their fourth studio album, which is scheduled for release in winter 2011. Known for their explosive live performances, the band have come a long way since forming in Birmingham in 2002 – with two of their three studio albums gaining platinum status in the UK, with combined sales of two million.
Their debut album The Back Room gained a Mercury Prize nomination and critical acclaim spawning hit singles ‘Munich’ and ‘Blood’. The resulting success catapulted their following two albums An End Has A Start and In This Light and On This Evening to notoriety, both reaching number one in UK album charts. Editors is made up of Russell Leetch (Bass), Chris Urbanowicz (Guitar) – both currently based in New York – and Ed Lay (Drums) and Tom Smith (Vox), located in the UK.
The deal comes as Strictly sister company [PIAS] Entertainment Group has extended their relationship with the band, inking a deal to release the band’s 4th and 5th studio album for Europe ex-UK. The joint publishing and master-rights deals are expected to create synergies across the two sister companies.
