The app gives Turner, an artist who has consolidated his fanbase with his inimitable style of direct to fan communication, through his blog posts and tweets, a new level of relationship building with his fans. With the app, Turner can now:
- Film video from any location he chooses
- Record audio
- Take pictures
- Tweet
- Give fans a chance to win, with exclusive competitions
- Share all the exclusive content with thousands of fans, via the iPhone app
Frank plans to use the app to reveal timetables, backstage footage and concert preparations. Fans can also be part of the action and have their photos from before and during the gig featured on the app, by tagging their snaps with the hashtag #FrankTurner or #fthc on Instagram.Frank Turner said: “Folk musicians have a bit of a reputation for being old school, but I’m actually really interested in how technology can help me engage with my fans on a new level.“I’m a huge fan of blogging and always make sure my website is up-to-date with the latest video and audio content. With the app, I can still share news with my fans when I’m on the road. I’m so excited about this app as it gives me a way to share backstage secrets with my fans before the Wembley concert.”Seth Jackson, Managing Director of [PIAS] Media said: “We like to help artists find new ways of connecting with fans through technology and this app gives Frank Turner a new tool that will let him communicate instantly with thousands of people.”Jamie Lyons, co-founder and Director of Offficial, said: “We’re currently working on innovative, bespoke apps for several high-profile athletes and celebrities. They want to give something back to their loyal fans and apps are a great way to do that. With Frank’s new app, he’ll be able to provide news to his fans hours before anywhere else. We truly believe that apps like this are the next step in celebrity interaction. The apps that we’re developing will offer users a unique insight into the lives of their favourite personality, while giving celebrities an opportunity to connect with their fans on another level.
