Cooking Vinyl enjoys UK album charts success with quartet of releases
- New releases from The Rifles and Skindred debut in top 30- Seth Lakeman enters at 20; Suzanne Vega at 37- Essential grabs 4.8% market share in week five 11th February, London:- Acton powerhouse label Cooking Vinyl has seen four new releases debut in the top 40 of the UK Album Chart in the last two weeks.Week five of the Albums Chart saw indie rockers The Rifles chart at #21 with ‘None The Wiser’, released 27th January, whilst ragga-metal band Skindred secured 28th spot with their fifth album ‘Kill The Power’, also released on the 27th.This was followed by another double-hit in week six, with English folk artist Seth Lakeman reaching #20 with ‘Word Of Mouth’, and American folk singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega taking #37 with ‘Tales From The Realm Of The Queen Of Pentacles’, her first album of all new material in seven years. Both were released on 3rd February.Furthermore, week five saw Essential Music & Marketing chalk up a 4.8% market share (OCC) made up by its distributed labels, including 2% for Cooking Vinyl, 2% for EBGB’s, which released Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s ‘Wanderlust’, and 0.8% for Nettwerk, which continues to enjoy global success with Passenger’s ‘All The Little Lights’.All four acts have ongoing tour plans, with The Rifles heading out across Europe and Skindred in the midst of a run of worldwide dates.
