December 2015:- Digital music distribution and services company FUGA has added the internationally renowned Domino Recording Company to its growing roster. The agreement will see FUGA look after the record label’s global digital delivery of catalogue and future releases from the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Hot Chip, Wild Beasts, Jon Hopkins, Villagers and Anna Calvi.FUGA’s abilities to deliver multiple encodings per track made them the natural choice for Domino. This means that varying files can be delivered as one single product, including tracks Mastered for iTunes (MfiT) as well as those that are 16-bit CD quality. Workflow is therefore streamlined, without the need to create separate products for every resolution and format delivered to a digital service provider. With a growing proportion of Domino’s catalogue now offered as High Definition audio and an increasing number of services such as Tidal, Deezer Elite and Pono now offering 16-bit and 24-bit streams and downloads to create a point of difference, the ability to efficiently deliver multiple resolutions is crucial. Many of FUGA’s largest clients are already distributing HD, including Armada, Baseware, Harmonia Mundi and Essential.Domino is a globally recognised label with offices in the UK, US, France and Germany. Founded in 1993, it is one of the longest running and most successful independents in the world. Other areas of the business include a publishing company and a series of labels; Weird World, Double Six and Ribbon Music.Jason Reed, Head of Digital at Domino Recording Company commented: “We’re happy to have partnered with FUGA as our digital integrations solution. Their platform provides an intuitive, efficient and flexible solution for us in managing our digital releases and deliveries across our retail and streaming partners.”Pieter Van Rijn, CEO of FUGA added: “We’re pleased that Domino chose us as their digital distribution partner, as our pioneering tech for easy distribution of multiple encodings is something we’re all proud of at FUGA. We are of course very excited to be working with the Domino team and the consistently great music they put out.” - ends - About FUGAFUGA is the high-end technology partner for content owners and distributors. With a platform encapsulating a broad array of services providing seamless end-to-end integration, FUGA is the number one choice for some of the largest labels, management companies, distributors and aggregators worldwide. The label’s start-up capital consisted of a weekly £40 Enterprise Allowance Grant, some demos from friends in the American underground, the idea that self-expression was still possible in the corporate nineteen nineties and a phone and fax machine on the bedroom floor. Twenty odd years later the company’s ambitions, operating procedures and ethos remain the same – to represent and release music by artists who have no choice but to make music and to draw them to the attention of the outside world.Among the label’s earliest successes was Will Oldham under his working name of Palace, Smog, Royal Trux and wayward and experimental domestic acts such as Flying Saucer Attack, Hood and the Third Eye Foundation that, together with the label signing The Pastels, ensured Domino celebrated a very British sense of regionalism and at times, eccentricity. In 1997 Domino released Pavement’s landmark commercial breakthrough ‘Brighten The Corners’ which was followed a year later by Elliot Smith’s ‘Either / Or’ and in 1999 the debut album by Will Oldham as Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy – ‘I See A Darkness’: a series of albums that confirmed the label’s reputation as the preeminent European home of American music. Bell’s desire to work with British bands as innovative and singular as his American artists reached fruition in the late nineties with the signings of Four Tet, Clinic, James Yorkston and The Kills. It was a Glaswegian act that Bell signed just as Domino celebrated it tenth anniversary that would see the label enter the international mainstream.Franz Ferdinand’s self-titled debut was released at the beginning of 2004 and went on to sell several million albums worldwide.  Domino quickly repeated Franz Ferdinand’s multiplatinum success on an even bigger scale when they signed Sheffield’s Arctic Monkeys and quickly released the band’s debut ‘Whatever People Say I Am That’s What I’m Not’ to an expectant audience. It was a high water mark and unplanned for moment in the label’s history that saw the band break the record for the fastest selling debut album of all time.Domino has used its newly acquired commercial expertise to sign a generation of American bands that includes Animal Collective, Dirty Projectors and Julia Holter,  while offering a home to revered Mercury and Ivor Novello nominated artists such as Hot Chip, Wild Beasts, Jon Hopkins, Villagers, Anna Calvi and Robert Wyatt. The label is now a fully international company with offices in Wandsworth, Brooklyn, Berlin and Paris.  Domino has also grown in other areas of the music business, establishing a publishing company and a series of labels including Double Six, Ribbon Music and Weird World.Twenty three years in, Domino Recording Co. remains a wholly independent record company whose characteristics are best represented by its artists: individuality, originality and a total immersion in music’s worlds of possibility.www.dominorecordco.com
