- Twickets app and website to launch in the next few months
- Ex Global Live’s Head of Ticketing joins Twickets as Head of Australia, the company’s first hire outside the UK
25 January 2017:- Twickets, the fan-to-fan face-value ticket reseller, today hired its first staff member outside the UK to kick off its Australian operation.Twickets has hired Danny Hannaford, former Head of Ticketing at Global Live, a major national promoter and part of Ashley Tabor’s Global Entertainment, to head its Australian operation. Relocating from the UK to Melbourne, Hannaford has worked in the live industry for eight years and is tasked with forging partnerships with Australia’s leading promoters, artist managers and venues.Head hunted by Global in 2014 to launch its ticketing department, Hannaford managed all Global Live’s promoted events from clubs to arenas to festivals, whilst also running his own artist management company, Don’t Sleep Management. Hannaford was also previously ticketing manager at primary ticketing company AXS, box office manager at the historic London venue, Eventim Apollo, and worked with the ticketing team as special events ticketing manager for AEG Live’s first British Summer Time at Hyde Park.Twickets’ platform was launched in the UK in February 2015 and has quickly established itself as the UK’s leading face-value ticketing company, committed to tackling profiteering on the secondary market. It has more than 500,000 users and has been appointed the official reseller for high-profile artists like Adele, One Direction and Mumford & Sons. The company was set up by Richard Davies, a respected British digital entrepreneur, founder of one of the UK’s first digital agencies, Good Technology, and owner of Future Platforms, one of the UK’s leading mobile app developers.Australia is Twickets’ first step towards global expansion following its successful funding round on equity crowdfunding platform Seedrs, which closed earlier this month and raised over £1.2 million (almost AU$2 million) from nearly 900 investors. There are also plans to launch in other key territories including the US and mainland Europe later this year. The new hire comes hot on the heels of the news that leading Australian promoters Michael Chugg and Michael Gudinski have teamed up to demand a government policy to police scalping and inflated ticket prices.Richard Davies, Founder of Twickets, said: “We are very excited about the launch in Australia and to welcome Danny to the team. Having someone as experienced in the ticketing market as him to head up the Australian operation is a big step towards Twickets’ goals for international development in 2017.”Danny Hannaford, Head of Australia, Twickets added: “Richard and I, along with the whole Twickets team, are looking forward to launching this new venture and helping event organisers, artists and fans exchange tickets fairly and safely. It’s an honour to be part of something truly changing the industry for the better and we are already having exciting conversations with some of Australia’s leading industry figures.”About TwicketsTwickets is a fan-to-fan ticket resale platform that operates with a face-value policy.
