London, 12 April 2017:- With its strongest line-up to date, Ealing Jazz Festival returns to London’s Walpole Park with an exciting mix of world-renowned artists and local talent for the weekend of 29–30 July. The first wave of artists announced for this year includes visionary saxophonist Courtney Pine CBE, principal founder of Jazz Warriors and the only black British jazz artist to have appeared on the cover of NME. Pine will be accompanied by the London-born father of neo-soul Omar MBE. Known for his chart-topping hit “There’s Nothing Like This”, Omar has appeared on Gilles Peterson’s revolutionary Talkin’ Loud imprint and won the Urban Music Award for Outstanding Achievement in 2006.Joining the ranks is the pioneer of Ghana's guitar highlife and afrobeat scene, Ebo Taylor, whose contributions as a guitarist and bandleader helped define the sound that we associate with ‘70s West Africa today, while 12-piece afrobeat, dub and jazz collective Nubiyan Twist will light up the stage with their upbeat blend of groove, horn and soulful vocals. Other artists are soon to be announced.Founded in 1984, the Ealing Jazz Festival has been a mainstay of the borough’s summertime calendar for over 30 years. Last year saw Roy Ayers and Yolanda Brown headlining and the sun beaming down, drawing nearly 10,000 people to Walpole Park. With the biggest line-up to date, 2017 promises to be another memorable instalment in the festival’s colourful history.Ealing Jazz Festival is one of 2017’s Ealing Summer Festivals, a series of eight separate events produced by the Event Umbrella on behalf of Ealing Council taking place in the borough between July and September. Set in some of Ealing’s most beautiful parks, the festivals bring people together in a collective appreciation of exceptional local and international talent across a range of artistic disciplines. More line-up announcements are expected in the coming weeks.Website URLhttp://www.ealingsummerfestivals.com/events/jazz-festival/First wave line-upMain StageCourtney Pine feat.
