Nick Lowe kick-starts first wave of Ealing Blues Festival line-up

Europe’s greatest The Who tribute band, Who’s Next, and fresh and furious Winnie and the Rockettes also join the bill  20^th – 21^st July 2019, Walpole Park, LondonTickets on sale here 10 April 2019, London: Ealing Blues Festival has announced its exciting first wave of artists who are set to put on a spectacular show for the festival’s 22nd year, including power pop icon Nick Lowe.  Nick Lowe has been a cornerstone of British music since his 1978 debut album, Jesus of Cool, featuring acclaimed Top 10 single “I Love the Sound of Breaking Glass”. A wide-reaching solo career, which includes collaborations with Johnny Cash and production credits for Elvis Costello, has earned him a reputation as the definitive musician’s musician. His headline set at Ealing Blues Festival will tap his decades long catalogue and work with some of the biggest names in music. With even more headliners soon to be announced, there is a huge selection of artists already lined-up to showcase the very best of blues music. The Cosimo Matassa Project will be bringing their distinctive New Orleans inspired sound to Walpole Park, featuring pianist and arranger Al Dunn, a long-time collaborator of folk legend and Fairport Convention member Richard Thompson. Joining them on the mainstage will be Europe’s premier The Who tribute band, Who’s Next, ready to bring the magic of Townshend and co. to the rockstars’ spiritual home of Ealing, where they first cut their teeth at The Ealing Club. The swingin’ blues style of Big Mamma’s Door is sure to bring the sun out for the summer weekend festival, while the no-nonsense Winnie and The Rockettes promise to deliver their sassy, unpredictable and loud sound. Alongside them will be psychedelic rockers Near Death Experience, the Southern blues drawl of MACK featuring Tommy Hare, and many more. The festival will take place in Walpole Park from 20^th-2^st July.
