What made you want to work in music?
Being a music fan growing up in Jersey had its drawbacks. It probably won’t surprise you that it didn’t have one of the most ‘happening’ of music scenes. Unless you’re into recycled chart music or bad Killers cover bands, you’d pretty much be out of luck.
I spent the bulk of my teen years dreaming of something more before my eventual move to London allowed me to permanently satisfy my fix. Working in the music business is essentially me making up for lost time.
What’s your favourite album of all time?
Without a doubt it’s the question most feared by all music fans as indecisive as me. The truth is my answer seems to change week by week. Right now, it’s probably ‘Loveless’ by My Bloody Valentine. How does anyone go about making a guitar sound like that?
What’s one piece of tech you couldn’t live without?
John Lennon once said, ‘all you need is love’. All I need is a turntable, two monitors, a receiver and pre-amp. Whilst I do my best to avoid being that irritating “everything sounds better on vinyl” sort of guy, ply me with enough alcohol and before long you too will be subject to the unsavoury experience of hearing about my Hi-Fi setup. It’s both a blessing and a curse that it’s made me never listen to music in the same way again.
